The voting, that ran for a week, received more than 500 votes from the public with the results being highly contested.

Dr Jennifer Fisher, Director, Wattle Run said we wanted the community to decide which one of these incredible pieces would transform our wall and we’re delighted with their choice.

“We really wanted to use this competition to engage with the locals giving them a say in what the precinct would look like, and they haven’t disappointed,” she said.

“Indo’s mural will bring colour and texture and lot of fun that will entice people to walk through to the Laneway at The Sheds, where the mural will be.

“We’d like to thank our runners up Dan K, Rosie Gordon and Sam Bradley for their work and the beautiful submissions they entered, it was so close.

“We’d also like to thank Wattyl for their support and for supplying the paint to Indo to complete the mural next month,” Dr Fisher said.

Patrick Edward Indo, aka Indo The Artist, a prolific street artist and muralist based in Northern NSW who paints for government organisations, councils and mental health organisations, was ecstatic to have won the competition.

“I’m feeling blessed, what a fantastic opportunity to be given the keys to this prominent outdoor visual space,” he said.

“Together we are going to change lives here, influence moods and inspire the people who frequent this wonderful space. “The idea behind my artwork for The Sheds was to bring empowerment of the feminine because The Sheds appeared very masculine.

“I can see they have introduced grass and nature, I decided to go with bright colours, bold shapes and a positive theme, this will in turn contrast the grey steel metal,” Indo said.

Indo will begin painting next month with the mural expected to be ready before Christmas.
